Family law matters are by their nature one of the most personal legal situations someone endures. Because of the emotional and sometimes traumatic events associated with separation, divorce, and issues concerning children, clients need an attorney who will listen to them. Family law matters sometime involve emergencies, which require a client to talk to their attorney quickly. Tammy Sossei is dedicated to being accessible to clients. She does not just represent her clients, she explains the process to them. She focuses on what each client needs, because every client is unique. She works hard to treat clients in the same way she would want to be treated when going through one of the most personal and emotional events in someone’s life. She handles divorces, custody, child and spousal support matters. She also handles criminal defense, traffic defense, landlord/tenant issues, personal injury defense, and other civil law matters. Her practice is primarily litigation.
Tammy believes that with a well informed and well prepared client, she can get the best possible results for a client. After all, there are fewer things more important to a person than their families and their homes. Preserving a family’s dignity during this difficult time is of primary importance to Tammy. In addition, financial resources can be limited. Therefore an attorney, like Tammy, who strives to make the process work for the client to obtain the best possible results, while protecting the family’s dignity and resources is a client’s best choice.
Tammy L. Sossei graduated from George Mason University with a B.A. in Integrative Studies, with a concentration in pre-law, in 2001. In 2004, she earned a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University. She graduated from the Regent University School of Law in 2009. From 2000 until entering law school, she worked as a litigation paralegal in Northern Virginia and later at Troutman Sanders in Richmond. Her paralegal work focused on civil litigation, primarily in the areas of family law and products liability. During law school, she was a Trial Advocacy Board Member and organized Regent’s Intramural competition. During the summer of 2008, she served as a student prosecutor with the Chesterfield County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office where she conducted motions, hearings, and trials in the general district and circuit courts and authored appellate briefs submitted to the Virginia Court of Appeals on behalf of the Commonwealth. She worked as a law clerk at Coates & Davenport from 2008, until she joined the firm in 2009. She is married to Lloyd Sossei, a former Marine. They often spend weekends competing at BBQ events. Lloyd even has his own brand of BBQ sauce and rub. After all, with a last name like Sossei, why not make sauce?- Education:
