Drug possession charges are serious, and those facing them will want to seek professional guidance.

  • Schedule I and II drugs: These drugs include heroin, LSD, methamphetamine and cocaine. Possession of a Schedule I or Schedule II drug could lead to a prison sentence of two to 10 years and/or a $2,500 fine.
  • Schedule III drugs: These drugs include opioids and codeine drugs. Unlawful possession of a Schedule III drug could lead to a jail sentence of up to one year and/ or a $2,500 fine.
  • Schedule IV drugs: These drugs include tranquilizers, sedatives and drugs such as Valium and Xanax. Unlawful possession of a Schedule IV drug could lead to a jail sentence of up to six months and/or a $1,000 fine.
